Private exchanges offer a new way to for US employers to provide employer-sponsored benefits that many will find advantageous. In fact, the number of employers considering offering a private exchange for active and/or retired employees has tripled in the past year to 56%. Mercer, which introduced Mercer MarketplaceSM private exchange in early 2013, suggests several reasons why a private exchange might be right for your organization.

 

“Private exchanges will help employers better manage their costs and reduce their administrative burden, while ensuring that employees have easy access to the coverage they need,” says Eric Grossman, Senior Partner and Exchange Business Leader in Mercer’s Health & Benefits business. “Because of these advantages, we expect many employers to introduce a private exchange for 2014 and beyond.”
