2017  – Voluntary Market Summary

Mercer’s 2017 National Survey for Employer-Sponsored Health Plans finds that employers large and small are offering their employees voluntary benefits to close gaps in their core health plans. But while some benefits, like disability, accident, and critical illness, are offered by most employers regardless of size, other types of coverage vary widely.

Our Survey, Marking 31 Years of Measuring Health Plan Trends

Employers in greater numbers are turning to voluntary benefits as a way to provide more choice to a diverse workforce and close holes in their current core benefits. In fact, 69% of US employers say their voluntary benefits have met objectives.
