Nearly 200 employers signed a letter supporting a Congressional bill that would override the auto-enrollment requirement. Many of the supporting employers are in the retail and hospitality industries, which were the hardest hit by the employer mandate. In an earlier post, Automatic Enrollment Presents Challenges, I discussed the specifics of this requirement, which has not gone into effect and won’t until the Department of Labor issues regulations. The most recent Mercer health care reform survey found that employers’ greatest concern about the ACA is the administrative burden. One less requirement would be welcome news!
