We noticed that President Trump invited the Republican caucus to the White House for lunch this week to discuss health reform.  Employers learned a long time ago that free food is a much-appreciated perq and a reliable way to boost participation in internal meetings.

As you finalize benefit decisions for 2018, it’s the perfect time to consider opportunities to expand or change things up beyond your group benefit plans. Check out this link to a slideshow created by our friends at Employee Benefit News on savvy practices at some of the top places to work. Free food and fitness facilities have long been on the list, and more employers are offering concierge and other on-site services such as a clinic or pharmacy.  Many of the companies featured also have generous policies around time off, including maternity/paternity leave, volunteer work and paid sabbaticals.  Programs like this go a long way toward supporting attraction and retention – not to mention the good PR you get when your employee brags about the company to family and friends.
