Last week the US Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee released discussion draft legislation designed to reduce healthcare costs. The discussion draft is broken into five sections: (i) ending surprise medical bills, (ii) reducing the prices of prescription drugs, (iii) improving transparency in health care, (iv) improving public health and (v) improving the exchange of health information. The Committee is accepting comments through June 5 and will continue working on revisions to the draft through the month of June. Mercer’s Law and Policy Group will be providing more detail about the draft legislation and the impact on employers. Watch their webpage for updates.
