Author and surgeon Atul Gwande, along with researchers Benjamin Sommers and Katherine Baicker, reviewed the impact of insurance on major health outcomes, including prevention, treatment and mortality. Here is the infographic presentation of the key findings of the study, which was published in the New England Journal of Medicine. As we continue to debate how to fund and finance healthcare, Dr. Gwande and his colleagues have highlighted the value access and coverage bring to both individuals and society as a whole. It’s a good reminder for employers that the true value of coverage is indeed ‘priceless’.
