In a recent poll on our website, 40% of respondents said they weren't sure if they would pay healthy employees who were unable to work due to COVID-19 related issues. Since the release of that poll, several employers have announced new permanent and/or temporary changes to their paid sick leave policies, removing uncertainty for their employees. There has also been talk of paid sick leave mandates at the federal level that may change the landscape. In the meantime, the basic paid leave scenarios for employers and employees facing COVID-19 related absences remain unchanged.
